Groin Hernia

A groin hernia is when tissue, like part of the
intestine, pushes through a weak spot in the groin
muscles, causing a bulge. It’s common in men and may
cause pain or discomfort, especially with movement or
lifting. Surgery is often needed to fix it and prevent
complications.

Groin hernias, comprising about 75% of all cases, are the most prevalent type. They occur in the inguinal canal, primarily affecting males. While women do possess an inguinal canal, it is considerably smaller, leading to a lower incidence of groin hernias compared to men.

Do I have a groin hernia?

You might notice a bulge in the groin area, which
usually goes away on its own or when you lie down.
Most hernias are painless, but smaller ones can be
uncomfortable, especially if they become complicated,
such as in cases of strangulation.

What should I do?

It is advisable to consult a general surgeon to obtain a definitive confirmation of your condition. During the consultation, the surgeon will conduct a detailed examination, which may include a review of your medical history, a physical examination, and potentially additional diagnostic tests or imaging studies such as ultrasound or MRI.

Inguinal Hernia Surgery

After the surgery

Most inguinal hernia surgeries are performed as outpatient procedures, with patients typically discharged the day after surgery. Pain is generally minimal and does not significantly disrupt daily activities. We utilize dissolvable stitches for skin closure, eliminating the need for future removal. Patients are usually able to return home on the second day post-surgery.
