 I had a left inguinal triple neurectomy surgery done  by Dr. Hakan Gok who I wholeheartedly recommend as an exceptional  professional. Not only did he accurately and immediately identified,  from the moment we spoke on the the phone, the potential cause of my 5  years long chronic pain, but from the moment I became his patient, he  behaved without reproach. He listened me patiently and promptly answered  all my questions and fears (even outside working hours), transmitted me  confidence in the positive outcome of the surgery and warm energy.  Additionally, he made all necessary arrangements to have the surgery  done quickly.

This made a huge difference, especially after the  unfortunate experience I had in Tbilisi, where Prof. Dr. Amiran Antadze  who operated me of hernia, left me with the problem that Dr. Hakan  treated, as well as after other frustrating experiences in Sweden where  the doctors tried to convince me that I was just fine despite the  obvious.

In addition, all medical and non-medical staff with whom  I interacted in Hernia Hospital, Istanbul rose to the level of 5 stars  although I cannot recall their name. However, I remember Miss Sule from  the reception of the hospital who was very helpful, and who tried her  best to make sure that I don’t miss anything. She is a very skilled  person , speaking multiple languages and with outstanding communication  skills. I can add that the hospital is very clean, tidy and welcoming. A  warm atmosphere that really helps the patient's morale. 

I wish all doctors were patient-centric, credible and empathic like Doctor Hakan Gök.

I had a bilateral inguinal hernia, which is big and complex for my case as I was delaying my operation for multiple years, and this year, I decided to do the operation. 

I visited multiple doctors, but unfortunately, the majority advised me to do open surgery, not laparoscopic; after each local doctor visit, unfortunately, there was a strong fear, doubts, and motivation to do due diligence to read and understand the whole aspect of the surgery. Doctors either do not give answers, don’t need to discuss the surgery aspect, or answer my questions (complications, chronic pain, a technique to be used, type of mesh, mesh difference, how many times they did similar case laparoscopically)

With the motive increase for due diligence, I started to read more and watch different channels until I found a fantastic resource, Dr Shirin Towfigh's channel for hernia repair. I watched plenty of episodes and interviews, which brought me to a state of awareness of how to select the right surgery for my operation.

At one of the episodes Dr Shirin Towfigh was interviewing Turkish doctor Dr Hakan Gok, I was hearing the episode I felt the real credibility of the doctor, real empathic, I recall he talked a lot about how he put his patient at ease, and dedicated time for them to answer all their questions, I liked his way of communication, his patient-centric. 

I decided to contact him; I pinged the medical centre and asked if I could get Dr Hakan Gok's contact; to my surprise, his contact information was shared with me.

I WhatsApp the doctor, gave him intro, and asked his permission to ask him questions; he surprised me again by telling me it will be better to have a call and he will call me at night after his complex surgeries operation in Spain! 

While I was surfing the medical centre, I found a survey or hernia assessment; I filled it in and uploaded all my medical details. 

At the agreed time, the Doctor called me, and he told me at the start of the call, he noticed my last name was the same as someone who filled out the survey this morning; I told him I was the same person. He walked me through my case explanation and answered all my questions; I recall it was an hour-long call, and the doctor was very generous. He never knew me; he was in another country, was doing complex surgeries, and he catered for my call without even asking for consultation fees.

By the end of the call, I was 100% sure he was the doctor that I wanted to operate with; as always surprised me; he provided me with a medical report without asking, and he helped me with the logistics of my medical insurance coverage, and we agreed on the surgery date. 

When I arrived in Turkey, I met Dr Hakan two days before the operation at Liv Hospital. We spent 1 hour explaining the surgery; he showed me different meshes and told me which one he would use.

Also, I had gallbladder, and he explained what needed to be done. where I didn’t make any decision at that time whether to remove it through the same operation or not.

On the surgery day, he met me in my room before the operation. He briefed my wife about surgery timing and told her that he would brief her immediately after surgery.

He asked me about the gallbladder decision; I told him I wouldn’t do it at the same operation. He respected my decision without debate.

He was always there explaining, putting me at ease.

After the operation, he briefed my wife as promised.

he met me at my room checked me, and told me he did what he was planning to do at the operation; he confirmed the size of mesh used at both sides and showed me insertion points; he confirmed he did use only glue for fixation. 

The next day, he passed again, checking on me, and he discharged me from the hospital. 

He was always available for me over the phone, even very early morning, and whenever I reached out, he even provided a written prescription over WhatsApp according to my situation. 

I visited him before my trip back home; on the same day, he was doing complex surgery before and after my visit, and he was, as always, for one hour long. He showed me pictures of my surgery; doctor Hakan is really a very good listener, a good communicator and very humble.

In conclusion, I am now 3 weeks after the operation, and I already fly after 5 days of operation, and I get better every day. 

Dr Hakan Gök is a very credible doctor, always available for his patients. I wish all doctors were the same.

Apart from that the medical centre, Liv Ulus were really very good and had very good rooms, nursing and doctors.

 I underwent an inguinal hernia surgery here 3 weeks ago and am very satisfied with the recovery progress. I had very good communication with Dr. Hakan before I even traveled to Turkey. During the meeting, he explained to me everything in detail and did the surgery the next morning. Big thanks to Dr. Hakan and his colleagues. I would definitely recommend them.

 2 weeks ago I had 2 hernias and diastasis recti fixed by Dr Gok at Hernia Istanbul and I'm recovering nicely. I can't give enough praise actually because my experience was very good. I made a big mistake in my communication before the surgery, my fault, and so I needed to have the surgery at a different hospital. Dr Gok handled everything so professionally and made the changes necessary so quickly the surgery happened the next day at another really lovely hospital.

The process prior to coming to Istanbul was very easy. I sent my scans to Dr from Bali via email and he could see my hernias and told me the price. I then booked my trip to Istanbul and we had a face to face appointment and confirmed everything with another Ultrasound including the additional diastasis recti problem which was also necessary to fix at the same time. I was very happy with this advice. Dr was super knowledgeable about everything, I felt at ease and in very good hands once we met and he did the examination.  I was diagnosed with abdominal wall hernia in 2017 and it's become a problem since then. I was spending this summer in Istanbul when I finally decided to get rid of it. So I made some research on internet and found Dr. Hakan Gök. He's a real professional and did a great job! During my first visit he explained everything to me in a very clear manner. Long story: I came across this private clinic when I was searching for a hernia surgeon to repair my inguinal hernias. I'm a perfectionist, my mind works better when I know all the details about a given subject, so I emailed the clinic asking all kinds of questions about the procedure, I asked so many questions other patients may not think of asking, Dr. Hakan was very kind answering all of them with ease and a smile as well. My visit to his office was educating, his knowledge on the subject is great. After we did the surgery, I kept in touch with Dr. Hakan to guide me through my recovery time, he was always there to answer my concerns.
